The front wheel has been replaced with a 21" twisted spoke. All the steel is now primered and ready for paint, however I cannot make up my mind. It may just stay flat primer black, as I think it looks really good as is.

I painted most of the chrome, in a wrinkle black finish.

The blacked out covers goes nice with the pipes now

BYOB Customs tooled the seat for me

All thats left now is to paint and airbrush the gas and oil tanks.

I got the maltese cross mirror installed, although all I can see is my knee while riding.

The remote filter with maltese bracket. It adds a quart of oil, and eliminates the need for a cooler

Got the pipes wrapped and installed

IT spits fire out the pipes.. very cool!

All thats left is to wrap the pipes with header tape

A side shot of the pipes

The finished pipes. Just have to make a bracket to connect the two.

Got the front pipe done, now just had to match the back up somewhat close

I started off cutting off the flange end of some drag pipes I had

This is what I started with to build the pipes.. 1 3/4" mandrel bends I bought off ebay

"El Destripador" RUNS!! The name is spanish for The Ripper. And its only fitting that the bike breathed to life for the first time on Cinco De Mayo. Pics to come soon.

On the kick stand. The bike is really low

Almost done with mock-up. The drag pipes are temporary until I build some pipes for it

I fabbed up a new intake manifold to flow better with the bike.

Jockey shift is made. Used left over parts from the forward controls

and the side view.. looking good!

Mounted the headlight down low, so the bike would flow real nice

Moved the coil up to the downtubes instead of the back bone. Opens up the valley above the front cylinder.

Got the oil tank mounted. Decided to hard mount it to have tight clearance on everything.

This is how the bike looks now

The seat pan is made.. no springs on this ride,.. only leather

Got the rear tag setup on and working

I had to modify the battery tray,.. the chain was hitting the battery

The rear brake mount. Went from a rod to cable with the forward controls

I welded the rear fender up solid

I had to gusset the frame, because of the big tank

The battery tray mounted

This is the first initial mockup with the ironhead engine in the bike.

The Chopper project has had a heart transplant. Instead of building it with a CB750 engine, I found a complete 1974 sportster that I will be using for the bike. That is what the frame was made for, so it will be an easy install. Everything I modded so far, I did to be reversible if the chance ever came to find this engine.
I will update later with pics and progress.

5-6-08

I had a guy give me a junk 750 engine that I gutted to use as a mockup engine. I used this to make all of the motor mounts. The bike is rolling now, but Im not happy with the fat front tire. I like the looks of fatty fronts, but I think this bike may be raked to far to keep the fatty. Im going to look into running the stock spoke off the 750 instead.

I also redid the tank mounts to make it a little more frisco style. Also the tank is huge, and I had to redo where the backbone meets up with the rear end on the frame. It looks like the frame goes through the tank now, which is kinda cool looking I think. I also gusseted this area really well as you can see in one of the pics. Im also not super sold on the Ape hangers right now, and almost thinking of running drag bars.

Here are the pics of this past weekends progress.

I mated the springer up with the frame to see what its going to look like. Other then that I havent had time to do much with the bike.
