The bobber made it into The Horse Backstreet Choppers in the July issue!!!! Thats pretty cool for me, and my second bike to make it into a national motorcycle magazine. So run out and buy the July issue of The Horse, and check out "Recycle Pilates Mat"... Im hoping the bike Im currently building, will be nice enough to make a full 1 or 2 page article!

As of 2/3/08 this is what the bobber looks like. I changed out the headlight to one that better fits the look of the bike. I also got the pinstriping added on the tank and wheels. If you look close you can see where I drilled little holes in the forks, and engine covers. This is nothing but for looks, but kinda sticks with my circle theme I have going. I also changed out the footpegs from a set of highway bars that came with my next chop job, a CB750. The only thing left that I want to change, is the shift knob. Here are the pictures, and enjoy.

Now the bike was getting pretty close to what I had invisioned, but not there yet. I decided to change out the grips to something a little more mean. I also changed the handlebars to "broomsticks". To clean up the handlebars, I removed the front brake lever, and to clean up the front wheel completly removed the front brakes. I also painted the tank, and removed the rear struts. I welded up the swingarm solid, redid the tag mount and rear light setup as well. I also fabbed up some intakes out of plumbing materials and a few other odds and ends.

The actual "chopping" of the bike took about 5 hours. I drove it on the shop at 5:00 on Friday evening, and was riding it out at 3:00 the next afternoon. Here are pics of the bike then.

I took the rear shocks off, and made struts. I fabbed up a seat pan out of flat steel and bolted it in place. I put on a 1972 Sportser tank on the frame. I cut of the stock footpegs, and moved them forward. I then modified the shifter and made it a suicide shift with the clutch on the shifter as well. I also cut the stock pipes, so she is very LOUD!

I began this project with a stock 1981 CB650C. The bike ran good, but was begging to be chopped. Here are the before pictures.
